The process of getting over a relationship breakup is most often very difficult-but of course I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. You spend days sitting around alone in your basement all depressed and thinking the world is coming to an end. While in this state, you're not even thinking about getting over a relationship breakup.

The thing is, you can't lie around in this state forever. At some point, you need to pick up the pieces and move on with your life. Otherwise, your current state of depression will no longer be just a phase you went through, it will start to define who you are. Here is some advice on getting over a relationship breakup and moving on with your life:

1. Eliminate all angry and bitter feelings toward your ex

I know, your ex hurt you-really bad. You have my sympathies. They did things that caused you lots of pain and left you all alone. You have every right to be upset, but it's not healthy for you to continue feeling this way. The first step to getting over a relationship breakup is to forgive your ex for all the wrong they did to you. Put this behind you, and move on. Trust me, you will feel much better once you take this important first step.

2. Lose your ex's phone number

Alright, you might not want to actually get rid of the phone number, but you do want to live like you no longer have it. Reduce or eliminate your calls and/or texts to your ex. Getting over a relationship breakup will become far less difficult (for both you and your ex) if you stop calling or texting them as much as you can. This might not be the easiest thing for you to do, but you must take this step to truly start getting on with your life.

3. Start living a new and better life

Okay, I know what you're thinking. This really going to be hard. Maybe, but it's well worth it. The third step to getting over a relationship breakup is to try to discover new and fresh things you can do to fill the void that the breakup left in your life. Think of it as getting a 'do-over' on your life.

Now is your chance to do some things you've wanted, but felt trapped or never had time for during your relationship. Make the most of this new opportunity and find a better and more enjoyable life.
